The Port of Los Angeles is America’s Port®, the nation’s premier gateway for international commerce and the busiest seaport in the Western Hemisphere. Located in San Pedro Bay, 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles, the Port encompasses 7,500 acres of land and water along 43 miles of waterfront.  This includes 400 acres of waterfront property in the communities of Wilmington and San Pedro, known as the LA Waterfront.

Los Angeles Port Police


As one of the few police forces in the nation dedicated exclusively to 24-hour port activities, the Los Angeles Port Police is responsible for patrol and surveillance of the Port of Los Angeles and neighboring LA Waterfront communities. As California peace officers, the Port Police enforce federal, state, and local public safety statutes as well as environmental and maritime safety regulations. The Port Police ensure a safe, secure environment along the LA Waterfront.

Port of LA's Mariners Guide 2019


All vessel operators navigating in and around the Los Angeles Harbor are encouraged to review and keep the 2019 Port of L.A. Mariners Guide and Tide Tables. The Mariners Guide includes commercial vessel traffic and tugboat information as well as important recreational boating safety information, such as instructions for emergency calls, inclement weather guidelines, vessel operating procedures and a directory of the marinas in the Port of L.A.
