BOAT EXCURSIONS

ALL ABOARD!

From short harbor tours to overnight fishing trips and magical whale watching adventures, a boat excursion is awaiting you at the LA Waterfront.

CRUISE THE HARBOR

Port of Los Angeles visitors can see cranes towering more than 200 feet high, some of the world’s largest container ships, California sea lions basking in the sun, fishermen returning with their catch of the day, and much more – a day in the life at America's Port®. A boat tour provides an excellent waterside view of these and other common activities that take place in the harbor.

Contact Fiesta Harbor Cruises or Harbor Breeze Cruises for a boat tour around Los Angeles Harbor.

Fishing Trips

With its long history as a fishing village, along with its present-day mastery of seafood delicacies, the LA Waterfront is the perfect spot for a fishing trip.

Free Harbor Tours and STEM Funshop

Every year in celebration of World Trade Week, on the third Saturday in May the Port of Los Angeles sponsors free, 60-minute narrated boat tours of the Los Angeles Harbor. Tours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., depart from two locations in San Pedro and Wilmington, and are free to the public with no RSVP required— tours are first come, first served. Pet friendly tours are offered at both locations. Contact Community Relations on (310) 732-3508 or  email lawaterfront@portla.org for more information. Specific departing locations are announced in April.

Tall Ship Adventures

Designated as the “Official Tall Ships and Maritime Ambassadors of the City of Los Angeles” when launched in 2002, the twin brigantines—Irving Johnson and Exy Johnson—are operated by the Los Angeles Maritime Institute (LAMI).  These majestic vessels are available to visit dockside or for an at-sea charter complete with professional crew.  A full range of nautical film services and coordination, event planning, catering support and facilitators for corporate events is also available.

Contact the Los Angeles Maritime Institute for a tall ship adventure.

Whale Watching Expeditions

Whale watching tours from the LA Waterfront are offered during the annual migration of the blue, fin, humpback, minke and blue whales. Migration generally occurs from December to March.

Contact the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium or Harbor Breeze Cruises for your whale watching expedition.
